About Mr. Williams
Hello and thank you for visiting our classroom! I am a certified English Language Arts Instructor, proud to be teaching students for West Michigan Aviation Academy. Please allow me to share some of my experiences and successes as a teacher to assure you that your student is in good hands!
My studies in education began at Grand Valley State University, where I received my BA, graduating summa cum laude. Academics were a high priority for me at the University, and so I studied diligently, working my way into Phi Kappa Phi International Honors Society as well as Sigma Delta Tau International English Honors society. Additionally, I was awarded Grand Valley State's Student Teacher of the Year (2011-2012) for my dedication to Grand Rapids Public Schools.
As a teacher I am very passionate about global education as well as teaching English as a second language. For this reason, I have dedicated the majority of my teacher training to working in some of the most diverse settings on the planet. I have observed in a bilingual Dutch school in Maastricht, Netherlands; observed and taught in an international school, also in Maastricht; and taught in a tribal high school in Kayamandi, South Africa. In the United States, I have also worked for the Cartwright School District and Grand Rapids Public Schools.
This site offers 24 hour access to the classroom and serves as a gateway from traditional texts to the multitude of information available through the internet. Students are encouraged to engage the classroom digitally through discussion, research, and multimedia production. The classroom website also has the unique ability to keep parents and guardians abreast with student activity without interfering with everyone's busy schedule. I aim to open the pathways of communication by streamlining classroom processes and making parent-teacher interaction as easy as possible. If you have any comments or questions, please e-mail me on the contact page! Thanks for visiting!
